SpaceDB: local-first mesh database
A local-first, CRDT-native, mesh-replicated database for a world without data centers
Replaces: Firebase / Supabase
What is SpaceDB, the local-first mesh database?
SpaceDB is a local-first, CRDT-native, mesh-replicated database. It replaces Firebase and Supabase for apps that should keep working when there is no data center in the middle.
What SpaceDB replaces
SpaceDB is a local-first mesh database. Records live on the devices that use them, CRDTs merge changes, and the mesh replicates without a data center as the source of truth.
Why SpaceDB is a local-first mesh database
What SpaceDB keeps from Firebase / Supabase
SpaceDB keeps an app database: read, write, and sync. Firebase and Supabase are the hosted databases it replaces. The sync path is the mesh, not a project URL.
Where SpaceDB fits
SpaceDB is the data crate next to Sovereign ID and mID. Identity says who is allowed to write. SpaceDB holds what they wrote, on the machines they already have.
