ffmpeg: memory-safe FFmpeg pipeline
The full FFmpeg pipeline — decode, encode, transcode, mux, probe — rebuilt in safe Rust
Replaces: FFmpeg
What is ffmpeg, the memory-safe FFmpeg pipeline?
ffmpeg is the Remade with Rust rebuild of the FFmpeg pipeline. Decode, encode, transcode, mux, and probe stay one library, written in safe Rust, with the same kind of job a media tool already expects.
What ffmpeg replaces
ffmpeg is the full media pipeline rebuilt as a memory-safe FFmpeg pipeline. A file goes in, a file comes out, and the stages in between are Rust.
Why ffmpeg is a memory-safe FFmpeg pipeline
What ffmpeg keeps from FFmpeg
ffmpeg keeps decode, encode, transcode, mux, and probe. Those are the jobs FFmpeg already does. The rebuild does not drop a stage to make the crate smaller.
Where ffmpeg fits
ffmpeg sits at the front of the media stack. FFAI, rusty_h264, rusty_jpeg, and rusty_png call into the same idea: media work stays on the machine that has the file.
